Cowan International is recruiting an Underground Mine Manager for a major gold mining company in the United States. The Underground Mine Manager will lead the underground operations to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable production. As part of the senior leadership team, this role drives strategy, safety, performance, and team development.

This role is ideal for a strong leader with a track record in operational excellence and team development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and optimize all mining operations
• Oversee extraction, processing, and transportation, refining strategies to maximize output and minimize waste.
• Develop and enforce comprehensive safety programs, update protocols, and lead safety training.
• Ensure effective operational and maintenance systems are in place to ensure operational excellence
• Manage a diverse team, set objectives, conduct performance reviews, and promote professional development.
• Create and manage the annual budget, monitor costs, and ensure cost-effective procurement.
• Document mining activities, prepare reports for regulatory compliance, and present updates to stakeholders.
• Engage with local communities, regulators, and stakeholders to maintain trust and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's in Mining Engineering, Geology, or related field.
• 15 years of experience in mining with sufficient management experience.
• Proven success in improving safety and productivity.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and technical expertise.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Klougin, Sage, and mining technologies.
• Safely navigate mining environments and work in varied conditions.
