Cowan South Africa is recruiting to fill the position of Manager: Human Resources for our client, a dynamic and expanding industrial group. There has never been a Human Resources Manager at this company and it will be expected of the incumbent to work with what is already in place and create (from scratch) / manage the Human Resources function. Our client wants to employ someone with current and hands-on South African human resources experience – AND who can hit the ground running.

• Monitoring, checking and signing all VIP payroll related transactions/documentation
• Analyze all payroll queries
• Capture and maintain all payroll transactions
• Compiling, reconciliation and distribution of month-end pay-overs
• Liaison and reconciliation of pension fund, medical aid and queries
• Reconciliation, preparing and processing of IRP5’s and IT3’s
• Management of UIF profile
• Provide inputs on Personnel History Data and Reporting.
• Reconciliation of financial payroll statements
• Completing / preparing of statistics regarding payroll information
• Handling and controlling and processing of electronic clock systems
• Compile Skills Development and Employment Equity Reports.
• Responsible for the Workplace Skills (WSP) plan as well as the Employment Equity (EE) report
• Determine trends in Performance Management Evaluation Data.
• Analyze Job Management Data.
• HRM Monthly updates on Personnel Data.
• Audit the process on job structures as well as technological changes and provide feedback to Executive Manager.
• Analyze the skills and qualities required for each particular job and develop job descriptions and services arrangements.
• Audit the process on job structures as well as technological changes and provide feedback to Executive Manager.
• Advise employees on work matters, career development, social activities, welfare services personal problems and industrial matters.
• Conduct analyses to determine staffing numbers, skills and needs to meet the organizations objectives.
• Act as Human Resources Representative at Disciplinary Hearings.
• Advise line management on grievances and disciplinary actions.
• Informally couch and counsel on an individual basis.
• Advise Labour Broker consultant on disciplinary issues, daily queries, work matters.
• Monitoring, checking and signing all Global Labour Broker VIP payroll related transactions/documentation
• Compiling information regarding vacancies (advertisements)
• Screening of CV`s
• Recruitment and Selection of Staff Members (All Levels)
• Interviewing and Selection of Labour Broker Appointments
• Appointment Letters for appointed Applicants
• Reference Checks on Applicants
• Exit Interviews
• Liaise with Recruitment Agencies regarding external positions
• Conduct Induction Training – New Entrants

• A South African National (Non-negotiable)
• Currently or recently employed in a similar position
• Able to work under pressure and able to communicate at all levels in the company
• Willing to travel – small amount of traveling involved

• A Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management
• Must have Experience with SAGE and VIP Payroll
• Preferably from a heavy industry, factory or mining environment
• At least 15 years’ relevant experience
• Assertive, with strong problem solving, motivational and leadership skills
• Willing to handle complex and challenging functions and sometimes menial administrative functions as well
• Strong negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong decision-making skills
• Good computer skills
