Cowan South Africa is recruiting a Maintenance Supervisor: Heavy Earthmoving Equipment, for a well-known open pit mining contractor. The incumbent reports to the Maintenance Superintendent - and coordinates/oversees the work of employees in maintenance repairs, servicing, allocation of equipment and the general well-being of the HME fleet to ensure that breakdowns don’t impact production.

THE OPPORTUNITY
• Oversee planned and breakdown repairs, services and maintenance on earth moving equipment and components are to OEM standards and company requirements.
• To be able to support quick and efficient fault-finding diagnoses on machines and to sign off the order for the correct spares needed to carry out repairs on earth moving equipment.
• Manage SOS sampling as per scheduled services and required feedback.
• Compile accurate machine analysis and reports including machine inspection reports.
• Ensure that quality and productivity standards of work are consistently and accurately maintained.
• Supply appropriate record of services, repairs and maintenance as per job cards and component change out forms.
• Effectively control work in progress and pre-shift inspections.
• Control warranty policies and procedures that includes warranty decisions and service warranty investigations.
• Develops, implements, and reviews yearly site-specific maintenance SWP with team.
• To achieve cost targets and KPI’s.
• Comply with safety, health and environment requirements.

YOU ARE
• A South African citizen (unfortunately, non-negotiable).
• Currently or recently in a similar role.
• Willing to work at a remote mining site.  
• Willing to work on a roster of 1 week Day Shift, 1 week Night Shift and 1 week off / break (and then the roster repeats itself).
• A Qualified artisan with 10 years’ relevant maintenance experience on CAT mobile plant.

YOU BRING
• At least 5 years’ working experience in management and supervision of fleet and mechanical work.
• Good communication AND report writing & presentation skills.
• People management skills AND deadline driven with ability to work under pressure.
• Machine specific technical knowledge and skills AND Computer literacy (MS Office, SIS and ET) knowledge.
• Understanding of Barlow Equipment’s (CAT) warranty systems, policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of pneumatics and diagnostic procedures.
• Ability to read hydraulic and electric diagrams together with their symbols.
• Possession of Code B driver’s license.
