Cowan South Africa is recruiting a Fleet Manager: Heavy Earthmoving Equipment for this international mining services company. Reporting to the Site Manager, the incumbent will be responsible to ensure that high machine availability is maintained for optimum performance and to implement correct preventive maintenance practices, where needed.

• Supervise preventive maintenance works (scope of work and supply, duration, and quality)
• Conduct all the periodic inspections, and train personnel accordingly
• Carry out troubleshooting as and when required and train the technicians
• Conduct the day to day management of maintenance works and assignments
• Assist with repairs on the vehicles
• Ensure that the trucks are used in operation as specified
• Ensuring that the warranty claims with the OEM's are completed on a timely and proper manner
• Follow all procedures, their implementation and monitor the guidelines of warranty claims, and all product related issues beyond warranty period
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, identifying potential contract warranties changes and/ or deviations
• Having a proactive approach to known problems, with full compliance to OEM specifications and with proper and timely reporting
• Submit all reports as required to the Site Manager
• Carryout work within and outside of the mine as agreed with the client and within the contractual obligations
• Convene and participate with the daily site management overview with relevant parties

• Preferably currently/recently employed in a similar position
• Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure against competing priorities and timelines
• Able to take initiative and work in a dynamic environment;
• Able to manage stress when difficult conditions arise

• Suitable trade (Heavy Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic, etc.) or Mechanical/Electrical technical engineering or equivalent experience/education
• At least 5 years’ experience on the maintenance of Heavy Earthmoving Equipment, in the open pit mining industry
• Good English Language Skills (Written and Oral)
• Hands-on maintenance experience with Heavy Earthmoving Equipment (Komatsu / CAT / Liebherr / Hitachi / Terex / Sandvik
• Experience with RAMP will be advantageous
• Experience in Africa or as an expat is preferred
• Problem solving, troubleshooting, while working with others to reach a resolution;
• Ability to overview situations, review and evaluate, defining set plans to achieve service maintenance goals;
• Careful planning to achieve accurate and timely results
• Able to take initiative and work in a dynamic environment;
• Must be able to manage stress when difficult conditions arise
