Cowan South Africa is recruiting a Continuous Improvement and A&I Specialist/Superintendent for a large international gold mining company.

• Incumbent will drive innovation and continuous improvement of processes and systems in the department utilising core tenets of the analyse and improve methodology of the company
• Implement programs that will have continuing long-term benefits in terms of efficiency and effectiveness. Lead the development and implementation of a ‘best-in-class’ continuous improvement approach  
• Work with key stakeholders, to build a continuous improvement environment to support an ongoing programme of change
• Lead and facilitate the analyse and improve -based workshops to define bottlenecks, define problems and then develop appropriate solutions with rapid iterations
• Support the delivery of better value and greater efficiency through the identification and elimination of unnecessary complexity within business processes and identification of better ways of working
• Participate and contribute towards the establishment of a project plan, specifications and resource requirements of the optimisation projects
• Map out all workflows, remove waste and low-value activities, and recommend solutions. Work with service delivery teams to devise new support material based on the revised processes, to include training, reporting and systems enhancements
• Actively monitor project risks to foresee/identify potential problems and proactively identify solutions to address in advance
• Ensure the business impact and project objectives/dependencies are identified, reported on and managed at all times. Identify trends and process variations as part of establishing a continuous improvement monitoring system
• Complete post implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery has been achieved and to ensure that improvements can be made for future projects
• Support operating model implementation by ensuring the implementation processes adheres to quality standards, for example gap analysis and critical issue resolution
• Take ownership of change initiatives from evolution/efficiency identification through to project delivery via internal governance and controls. Feed lessons learned, and knowledge gained back to wider teams

• A South African citizen (non-negotiable)
• Currently or recently employed in a similar role

• An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors/Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline
• Accredited Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, preferably Black Belt, will be advantageous
• Minimum 5-7 years proven continuous improvement analytical experience from a similar role, including project management and business analysis
• Ability to set-up, facilitate and lead service improvement/’Workout’ sessions with a range of business stakeholders (incl. Experience of process/value stream mapping)
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Project, Visio, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• A ‘completer-finisher’ taking accountability for ideas from inception to delivery, in an environment that requires robust metrics to confirm success
